3 June 2007 -
This past Sunday the Kings played
a double-header against the Croydon Pirates. In their first 8 games of the
season, Croydon only allowed 9 runs against. The Kings managed to notch up 10
runs all together on Sunday, which is impressive considering the quality of the
Croydon pitching staff. Unfortunately, despite some excellent pitching from Masa
Egawa, Simon Kim, Kyle Kalkwarf, and Paul Boland, the Kings were not able to
contain the extremely strong Croydon batting line-up. Despite holding the score
close for the first few innings of both games, the Kings were defeated by 17
runs to 7 in the first game, and 19 runs to 3 in the second game.
Croydon now have a huge lead at the top of the National League standings. The
Kings still hold the top position in the Premier League, but are only 1 game
ahead of 3 other teams. One of those teams is the Croydon Pilots (Croydon's 2nd
team), who we play this coming Sunday in another double-header fixture at the
Horspath diamond.
