5 June 2005 - The Kings managed to split the double-header with the 1st-place Cambridge Monarchs on Sunday.  The first match was a pitchers duel, as Kings' ace Derek Kelly took on his counterpart from the Cambridge Monarchs.  Unfortunately, with the notable exception of Oxford's leadoff-hitter, Michael Lamb, the Kings failed to come to terms with the impressive speed and control of the Monarchs' pitching, so could not provide substantial run support for Kelly.  The game was lost, 9-2.  The Kings' man of the match went to Michael Lamb for his line drive single and triple.  In the second match, the Kings finally got their offence going, and Kings starting pitcher Matteo Convento kept the Cambridge batters off balance with his repertoire of mind-boggling off-speed pitches.  The Kings went into the final inning up by 1 run.  Derek Kelly, took to the mound once more, and closed the game in style by striking out the side, which earned him man of the match honours for the 4th time this year.
